Our Sacred Mission Statement

Shakti was founded because of the story of one little girl. As an infant, she lost her father, the family's sole breadwinner, when he was brutally murdered. In an instant, she was left with no father, no financial security, and a grieving mother struggling to survive in a country where their Hindu faith was being persecuted. Her future was uncertain. An education seemed out of reach. Safety was never guaranteed. Girls only a few years older than her were being harassed, abducted, and exploited simply for openly identifying as Hindu, wearing a bindi, or practicing their faith. Shakti exists to help girls like her build a better future. We work to ensure that Hindu women and girls have access to safety, opportunity, education, and the support they deserve. While there are organizations dedicated to supporting women from many other faith communities, there are very few whose primary mission is to serve Hindu women and girls. Shakti was created to help fill that gap. It is a place where people can come together to provide support, resources, and hope for women and girls facing stories like hers, ensuring they are not left to face these challenges alone.
